Comments: To: Dan Losh - I played
with The Beau Brummels through the late 70s/80s/90s, and would be glad
to share chords and lyrics of what I can remember, off the top of my
head. I'm working in The Philippines, presently, so I'd be going my
memory. I can contact Ron Elliott for what I CAN"T remember, if
this would help you out. It's great to see this site. Glad to know the
band isn't completely forgotten. .....................Jackson (John)

Comments: Beau Brummels. Great
music. Just wish they would write and record more music. I think their
sound was great! Makes me wonder if they did write music today, would it
sound like the music they did in the 1960s? That is still very good and
successful music. Just look at the popularity of "That Thing You
Do", and "Austin Powers-The spy Who Shagged Me", the
music plays a major part in the movies popularity. So, I say, Hey! guys!
write some more "groovy" music... When you, listen to The Beau
Brummels, you are listening to the 1960s. Favorite Brummels Song: Just A Little. -April 2001 |

Comments: I have been a Beau Brummels' fan since I first discovered the band in 1979 when I visited an old schoolchum of mine who had all their records. I was immediately struck by their sound and in particular Sal's voice and Ron's songs.since then I have bought every release wrote a story about these guys and am still looking for a cassette dub of Sal's solo 45 Lisa Marie/The twist from '62. I also have not laid my hands on the new Live CD on Dig, is there one more Live CD to be released of earlier material. my wife at a Beau Brummels concert in '66 at Great Falls, MT. After
talking with Sal on a Sat. nite, early Monday morning I was headed out

it! Great music! March 2001. |

Comments: The Beau Brummels kick
some serious butt! While most kids my age (21) are into Metallica, hip
hop and punk rock they fail to see and hear the chord pouding heart felt
rhythms that bands like the Beau Brummels produce. The yelling,
screaming, trash talking and stupid wah wah guitar solos of metal and
punk are just a ploy to cover up the fact that they have little vocal
talent or meaning to the stuff they perform. Then people of today have
the nerve to claim that stuff superior. Ha, all they want to do is get
attention by pretending to get mad over something just to be cool. Well
I wish I was around in the sixties to actually see the Beau Brummels in
their prime and I wish I could sit each and every young person down to
watch an in their face real honest to goodness live Beau Brummels
concert. Then they'd striahten up their backs, take off their hats, open
their eyes and see real music by real professionals. Favorite Brummels Song: Laugh, Laugh -February 2001. |

Comments: I was a big fan back then
and Introducing the Beau Brummels was my very first album. I must have
been about 13 then and also liked Jan & Dean and the Beach Boys. At
that time, I joined the fan club through the address on the back of the
album and still have correspondence and (real) autographed photos that
were sent to me at the time. Favorite Brummels Song: You Tell Me Why. -February 2001 |

Comments: Great site. Was looking
for Brummels site last summer and came up with nothing. I wish I had
info for you, but I don't. I play with a band that does 'Laugh Laugh and
Just a Little'. To do those songs justice it took a lot of work. Many
cool chords and the instrumentation is great. Will share this site with

Comments: I was aware of the Brummels ever since I was a kid growing up in the 60's. When I first
heard their song "Laugh Laugh", I mistakenly thought it was
made by the Everly Brothers. Nevertheless, I think that the Brummels are
a classic example of a band that should have been able to hit it a hell
of alot bigger than they really did Favorite Brummels Song: Laugh, Laugh-January 2001. |

Comments: This sight is wonderful. I
fell in love with the Brummels when i first heard the song on the radio
in February, 1965, when I was in eighth grade. I bought the first 5
singles, after which I could not obtain any more. Their first two albums
were the first two I ever owned. To this day, my favorite groups are the
Beau Brummels, Byrds, and Kinks. The 45 B-side, "I Want You"
is shorter than the album version, which appears on reissues. Will the
shorter version ever appear on a CD? I have the three Stoneground lps,
but have never heard Ron's Candlestick Maker nor Pan. Will these be
available any time soon? Thank you Beau Brummels for the pleasure of
your music I have continued to enjoy over the years. I buy everything
reissue I run across. Thanks so much. Favorite Brummels Song: Nearly All of Them-January 2001 |

Comments: Saw the Beau Brummels
once, 66, in Central Park in NYC. They did their version of "One
Too Many Mornings" as a closer, then, walking to the bus station, I
heard it on WMCA ("The Good Guys") radio, the only time I
heard it played on the radio. They were a fine, dark, creative band, and
they should be remembered. I especially liked their 2nd album, but I
honestly don't think they ever released much weak material. Favorite Brummels Song: You Tell Me Why- December 2000 |

Comments: I was at the 1964 Beatles
concert at Dodgers Stadium to let you know how old I am. In fact, I
drove my father's car to the concert. I truly appreciated the British
sound and liked many British groups. When I found out that the Beau Brummels were not British back when they were together (1965 or so), I
was amazed. Over the years I have called in to radio stations and asked
them to play 'Laugh-Laugh' because I liked it so much. Their music was
unique and I realized at some point that they were every bit as good as
some of the more famous bands. If I knew I had 20 minutes left to live
and I could choose any music I wanted to listen to as I faded away, I'd
have to say that the Beau Brummels would have two songs in that sequence
behind Knights in White Satin, Stairway to Heaven, She's Not There, and
We've Got Tonight. Congratulations on the iniciative of developing this
site. Now, if you could only send us all back in time to lsietn to the
Brummels when they were young and energized. Favorite Brummels Song: Laugh, Laugh-December 2000 |

Comments: Hello, friends, I hope you
will excuse my poor english, but I'm a chilean philosophy teacher who
once had a band -as everybody did- and we used to play Beau Brummels
songs in scholar festivals at the end of the '80s. First of all, I'm
very happy for this web site, which allows all the Brummels' fans to
feel that we are not alone in the world! Here in Chile almost nobody
knows Brummels. I was first a beatle fan -like the Brummels themselves-
and then I discovered Byrds. But the Beau Brummels remains still today
for me as one of the greatest and less knowns bands off rock'n roll
history: listening to their songs one can understand better the roots
and influences of almost every good music that came later. Elliot has
the same melancholic verve of the best Macartney and Brian Wilson.
Thanks again for your excelent work and I hope you'll be glad to know
that even at the end of the world the Beau Brummels are remembered. Favorite Brummels Song: Don't Talk To Strangers-November 2000 |

Comments: My name is Rory. I'm 19 and just LOVE the Beau Brummels. I first discovered them about three years ago when I heard "Laugh,Laugh" on the radio. Already being a crazed fan of the Beatles and the British Invasion I instantly fell in love with these guys. I just had to find out who they were and where I could find more stuff by them. Luckily my good freind Dave, what with his vast knowledge of music, was able to tell me that it was the Beau Brummels. My first reaction was "Beau who?" either way, I got to the nearest music store and began to look. The only thing I found was their greatest hits collection wich spanned between the years 1964-68. When I bought it I began to read the liner notes inside. I was shocked when I heard that these guys were American. I thought they were British. But overnight I fell in love with tunes such as "Just a little","They'll make you cry.", "When it comes to your love." ,"Sad little girl." and the list gose on and on. My collection has grwon now. I have been able to get my hands on as much Beau Brummels stuff as I can. I have "Introducing The Beau Brummels" "Beau Brummels Volume 2." "The San Fran Sessions." "Triangle" And a Greatest Hits album. And I plan to get more!!! My personal favorite songs by them are "You tell me why." "I would be happy." "They'll make you cry." "Oh Lonesome me." "When it comes to your love." and "Are you happy". I JUST LOVE THESE GUYS! As a musician I've even played some of their songs on stage. Sadly, no one really knows who they are when I play them. I just think that it's such a shame that a group so good, was so badly overlooked. I think the Brummels deserve so much more credit then what they deserve and are without a doubt worthy of a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.So Sal,Ron E.,Ron M.,Dec, and John, my hats off to you!!You are truely one of the greatest bands there ever was!

Comments: One of the funniest things I remember from last night's show was a woman in the audience screaming at the top of her lungs, after the Cuban Heels had finished playing one of the Tikis' tunes, "THAT'S A TIKIS SONG. THAT'S THE TIKIS! THAT'S THE TIKIS! MY BROTHER WROTE THAT. MY BROTHER WROTE THAT!" She was in another dimension with glee, I guess. |

Comments: More on the Autumn Records party in San Francisco... Alec Palao's Cuban Heels, augmented by Cyril Jordan, played before the Brummels, and did a set of cool Autumn Records covers, including the Vejtebles' "I Still Love You," the Tikis' "The Darkest Night of the Year" and "Pay Attention to Me" (on which they cajoled former Tiki and Harpers Bizarre member Dick Scoppletone--can't remember the spelling of his name--into singing a few verses) plus a Baytovens original and "Anytime at All" and "Ticket to Ride" by the Fab Four... Celebs in the audience included Flamin' Groovies founder Roy Loney, Rolling Stone writer and author Ben Fong-Torres (who introduced the Beau Brummels), Avalon Ballroom legend Chet Helms, Bomp! Magazine founder Greg Shaw and members of local garage bands. What a trip! There was even a local label selling a Beau Brummels live CD from '74, pre-reunion LP, which has sterling sound quality and LIKE 10 UNHEARD RON ELLIOTT ORIGINALS. HOLY TOLEDO!

Comments: Just attended a reunion show of my favorite band of all time, the Beau Brummels, last night at a small club in San Francisco called Cafe du Nord. On stage were, believe it or not, Sal Valentino, John Peterson and Ron Meagher, with help from local legend and ex-Flamin' Groovie Cyril Jordan and ex-Sneetch Alec Palao, very responsible for keeping interest in the band alive in this day and age. In the audience was a smiling Ron Elliott, who designed the show's poster. Only no-show was Declan Mulligan. 'Twas a very short set, but Sal was magnificent on "One Too Many Mornings," "Things We Said Today," "Just a Little," "Laugh Laugh" and the incredible "Don't Talk to Strangers." Before the show, which was a salute to the Autumn Records pop sound circa '64-'65 San Francisco, all four Brummels posed for photos outside the club, on Market Street, probably assembled together for the first time since 1975.

Comments: My congratulations on a web site to a band that inspired a lot of us who learned to play our instruments listening to Beau Brummel material. Beyond the Byrds and Love, there were few bands that survived beyond the first single. Comments: This is truly one of the great American bands of the 60s. Unlike some of their Bay area colleagues their sound holds up extremely well today. If there are any "Brummel Maniacs" you'll be "shocked" to know that their picture in the History of San Francisco Rock book has a mistake in the caption. It's actually a reunion photo from circa 1975. It lists all the original names but there's one guy in the picture who was not an original. I know because he was my first guitar teacher, Danny Levitt. By the way, if you play Laugh Laugh backwards...never mind.
